McKinley Browne Home
n April 19th 1995, a truck bomb shattered the lives of many Oklahomans when it ripped away the north side of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City. In the aftermath of the bombing, a 350-member Memorial Task Force was charged with developing an appropriate memorial to honor those touched by the event. The following Memorial Mission Statement was approved and is now inscribed on the gates of the national memorial.

We come here to remember
those who were killed, those who survived and those changed forever.
May all who leave here know the impact of violence.
May this memorial offer comfort, strength, peace, hope and serenity.
