hen Oklahoma Christian University moved to Oklahoma City from Bartlesville in the late 1950s, the need for a college congregation soon became apparent. In 1962, elders C. A. Buchanan and James O. Baird, met at the Royce’s Cafe in downtown Edmond to discuss plans for starting this new congregation. One year later, the church opened its doors with 25 members. Today, with over 2,500 members, Memorial Road Church is the third largest Church of Christ in the nation.
